The thesis was that a selected group of students could be taught concepts of strategy planning and a theology of missions, and then write a missions strategy for the DBU family. Eight student leaders participated in seven ninety-minute sessions about the role of missions in a Christian's life. The result of the project was a written strategy to engage the Dallas Baptist University family to understand the biblical basis of missions and their role regarding home and foreign missions. The process involved researching the history of missions at DBU, training in the biblical basis of missions, and casting a vision of opportunity for DBU in missions. The director trained the students in strategy development and the principles were applied to produce a written strategy. Project evaluation confirmed that the selected leaders wrote a well-structured strategy."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716373929132032,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:01:22.632Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:16:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:17:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"13bca571-f4de-47a0-8546-4abfcff65bae","accessControl_ssim":["24f7173a-ad0a-45d4-b6d4-4768a14173c4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching the gospel of life in a Roe v. While ministering to churches, this writer discovered conflicts caused by disharmony among three groups in a church. Those three were: interracially married group, students abroad group, and immigrants family group. The interracially married group is 50% of total church members. This group has some ardent will to serve the Lord and to devote themselves to a church; however, they hurt easily and have had difficulty in harmonizing with other church members. So, they easily abandon their dedication in church ministries due to self-guilt and self-consciousness. Some leave the church and quit their fellowship with other church members. This writer discovered a connection between these problems and self-guilt in interracially married women. In Korean culture there has been prejudice about interracial marriages, regarding it as shameful with regard to an unitary nation and related to prejudice connected with prostitutes. This was a kind of cultural conflict in Korean society. The shame from this prejudice developed into low self-esteem, causing problems in church, social, and family activities. Therefore, they could no enjoy normal life in church or society. This writer researched this project aware of many serious problems in Korean churches in the States. Chapter 1 is a synopsis of the thesis. Chapter 2 presents problems and solutions of interracially married women's self-esteem in the Bible. Chapter 3 deals with the prejudice of Korean culture regarding interracial marriage. Chapter 4 introduces practical worship in relation to interracially married women. Comfort and respectability are subtle temptations shaping preaching within various middle and upper-middle class churches. Theologically, the role of prophetic preaching served to remind God's people, even in exile, of their unique role in proclaiming and living God's word. The author identifies a model of prophetic preaching, specifically preaching on 'prophetic oracles of judgment,' using the insights of self-psychology that leads to spiritual discrenment and transformation. Sermons were designed to reflect and explore different positions of prophetic preaching. The author shows prophetic preaching as relevant for spiritual transformation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2ed862c2-32c4-448b-95c8-4a58c3d74b5b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134136866439168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:30:23.568Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:16:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:42:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"59d2b09a-115f-4aa7-814e-33fc5a944b5c","accessControl_ssim":["502fd3fa-0a99-4bbb-9fea-51d7438c0c05"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Hip Hop hermeneutics: a tool to help the black church recapture African American youth"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:16:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:46:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["967cea9a-3fd7-46c9-b80f-fe3a984adb9f"],"hasLease_ssim":["e1f82ec8-057a-418c-a890-637e1090e7aa"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Josiah U Young"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The writer researched common theological ground between Psalms and the messages of Tupac Shakur. Psalms of lament and Hip Hop lyrics convey a reality of fear, hopelessness, anger, and a deliverance motif by a God who cares about the people.
