Surveys, interviews, and statistical records were utilized to determine and project numerical growth among Southern Baptists in the St Louis Metro Association and other selected churches in St Charles County, Mo. A Likert scale was used.  The results showed very little difference between ABC Wisconsin ministers and ABC USA ministers. Programs emphasizing community, participation and shared leadership will result in greater future involvement.  Persons experiencincing two contrasting styles of confirmation education were surveyed ten years after their confirmation. Divorced clergy required to leave their parishes experience a second devastating loss, creating intense shame.  Ten clergy who remained in their parishes for three years, postdivorce, in two-hour interviews, report significant mutuality in dealing with the shame of divorce and with the loss both priest and parish suffer in clerical divorce. Chapter two advocates supporting teachers through communication, education, recognition, resources and sabbaticals.  Chapter three describes how care is demonstrated to teachers in the way they are recruited.  Chapter four discusses several types of training for teachers and also sets forth six questions that should guide training. The evidence was excerpted from the scriptures, from portions of formative theology, from feminist writings in the social sciences, and from three case studies in which various psychotherapuetic models were used in the counseling sessions that demonstrate the impact of the abuse of power. The participants in the research were elders in congregations of the Reformed Church in America where the pastor had served at least ten years.  A questionnaire allowed those elders to rank eight areas of ministry and to give an indication of the health of the pastoral relationship. The thesis is that there is a body of contemporary American poetry which expresses themes that are in harmony with Lutheran theology.  The project includes an anthology of more than one hundred poems by nearly fifty twentieth-century writers organized under a variety of themes consistent with Lutheran theology.
