A handbook includes practical guidelines for organization and activities for program. The conclusion of the study shows that process thinking, inductive reasoning and faith development research provide the basis for a dynamic Christian community. Research was made into the biblical and theological dimensions of pluralism, and the types, problems and needs of minority groups in the school.  A report to college authorities recommended educational strategies, and approaches in worship, religious activities and pastoral care. The strategy's theological foundations are based upon certain insights from political theology.  An empirical survey provides the basis of its applicability to the Australian context.  The strategy combats the privatistic and sectarian tendencies within Australian church life and ministry by suggesting a reformist approach to ministry by which the critical and prophetic dimensions of ministry can be integrated into the total ministry of local congregations. Theological expression must provide positve ego fulfillment in order for the church to be what God intends. After defining prayer as a receptive mode of consciousness akin to meditation, prayer is further categorized into three levels: detachment prayer, dialogue prayer and discovery prayer. Each is related to both Christian tradition and the experiences of 'runner-prayer-ers'.  Subsequent chapters deal with such subjects as holistic health, auto-hypnosis, the runner's 'high,' journal writing and personality changes. The project develops a 'theological plumbline' or measuring guideline from the writings of the noted theologian Dr Juergen Moltmann, in order to establish an identity model for the church.  In addition, a sociological-psychological survey is developed that replicates the Presbyterian Committee National Study of 1976 Examination of Membership Loss. The replicated study is applied to a pilot church, the United Church of Riverview, Michigan. The fourth contribution to the field of narrative theology and preaching is that the author provides, for the first time, feedback on how narrative sermons are heard and understood by congregational members. When we know that God has suffered what we are suffering, we are able to be healed in our traumatic confrontations, and to grow in faith through this suffering, either to a new wholeness of life, or to live completely to the end in the face of death.  The thesis was tested in marriage counseling, in care of the dying and bereaved, and in unemployment counseling.
