Thirteen laypersons were trained during seven sessions in the principles of leadership, small group discipleship, group building, and the inductive Bible study method.  These principles were applied to the existing adult Bible study program.  Evaluation procedures revealed a positive move from a basic lecture style of teaching to a relational style of teaching. The project included 3 phases: planning, preparation and program.  During the final phase, the project director, his nine project assistants, and a trained corps of thirty volunteers from the church made approximately seventy ministry contacts to the church's military families during periods of job-related separation. The training program helped the participants promote their spiritual growth, strengthen their commitment and improve their effectiveness in their services.  It benefited the church in equipping present church leaders and developing new church leaders. The church has lacked sufficient teachers to cover the needs in the Sunday School classes. This project was designed to train six to eight persons as teachers for young people and adults.  The areas of training chosen were the privileges and responsibilities of a Sunday School teacher, the revelation of the redemptive message of salvation, regional differences of the Spanish language and culture, basic methods of teaching, the organization of Sunday School classes, and characteristics of the adult and young people groups.  Preparation for the project included research, writing of a prospectus, selection of materials, church planning, and enlistment of trainees.  Implementation of the project covered a six-week period. The evaluation was conducted through the use of three kinds of questionnaires filled out by the trainees. Data from an extensive survey instrument mailed to the pastors is analyzed, conclusions drawn and recommendations made for further study.  The project includes a survey of marriage preparation literature written since 1940 as well as a chapter surveying marriage preparation in biblical literature. The study focused on an eight-session course based upon the Lord's Prayer.  The sessions, which were experiential in nature, were designed to enable participants to examine and share the nature of their prayer lives, and to explore ways in which they might expand their understanding of the grace of prayer.  In addition, participants were asked to read and respond to Leonard Boff's The Lord's Prayer: The Prayer of Integral Liberation, which is an interpretation of the Lord's Prayer from a liberation theology perspective.  A third component of the project was a series of sermons on the petitions of the prayer. The use of a worship committee is a logical outgrowth of a theology of participation.  The basic purpose of the study was to develop a worship committee planning model and to test this model by offering a training course to worship planners from four diverse Mennonite congregations.  The effectiveness of the model and the course were evaluated by course participants.  Both were strongly affirmed.
