Now God needs trained Egyptian leaders to serve as His tools in fulfilling His Great Commission.  This project contributes to such leadership training.  The first four chapters detail relevant aspects of Egypt's history, culture and religions.  Later chapters discuss the obstacles to reaching Egyptians, suggests a bridge for reaching them, and considers the nature of the Egyptian church and its role in leadership training.  The final two chapters deal with resources for evangelization in Egypt and the role of Egypt in fulfilling the Great Commission worldwide. It understands this tradition of evangelism to be the convergence of two historical traditions.  The first is formal structured evangelistic activity of northern antebellum Black churches. The second tradition is informal, spontaneous activity which has its roots in the southern slave plantations of the so-called 'invisible' institutions. The need for such a project emerges from both cultural and ecclesial circumstances.  Many are looking for someone to help them to find and to nurture a divine orientation in a disorienting world.  They look for someone to help them uncover and articulate the longings and stirrings of grace within them.  This spiritual awakening has urged many parish clergy to seek assistance in the practice of spiritual direction.  An important component of the project is the exploration of the common boundary between spiritual direction and pastoral counseling. The project situates campus ministry in the current debate over the improvement of higher education. It draws on contemporary theology and the Roman Catholic Bishop's Pastoral Letter that calls for 'a new phase' in campus ministry.  Part two defines campus ministry with a faith stance and with a mission to care for the academic world.  It devotes one chapter to liturgy as pastoral care. Part three examines the context of ministry, especially ministry to commuters, in Manchester, New Hampshire. Part four evaluates campus ministry at St Ann Parish and Student Center, Boston, Massachusetts and at the Newman Center in Newark, New Jersey. The context is the 19th century East-West encounter of religions.  The paper focuses on the interaction between the Brahmo Samaj of India and American Unitarianism.  Its methodology is historical-phenomenological.  It concludes that Mozoomdar's visits in 1883, 1893 and 1900 as a missionary of the New Dispensation evoked considerable response in America.  His role in the Parliament of Religions in 1893 was significant and his visits helped institutionalize relations between Indian Brahmos and American Unitarians. The results in general were positive. Each group should be unique in method and format.  This work refutes the concept that there exists any one 'right group' that is capable of ministering to all people and to every type of need.  The author finds the basis for his thesis in the biblical record.  He determines that small group ministry would be more effective if it used the principles and methods of modern schools of therapy.  John Wesley's theology and methodology that concern the class meeting and the society guide this project.  The author updates this method to coincide with the needs of a twentieth century society.  The paper includes a description of a 'Groups With Purpose' project in one local church and a design for establishing and maintaining such a ministry in a body of believers. The paper concludes with a discussion of unresolved questions. The hypothesis of the research project was that if a church offers a biblically balanced and sound course of training for its parents who have preadolescent children, there will be an observable increase in the self-esteem scores of the children whose parents undergo training.  The author conducted pre-test and post-test measurements of the self-esteem of preadolescednts whose parents were trained.  He compared these scores with the scores of a control group whose parents received no training.
