The basic concern of this project was to determine how the strategy might be implemented in the Eugene Seventh-day Adventist Church. A theological investigation and an examination of contemporary concepts of caring in management literature form a basis for the study. Two surveys establish the felt needs of the community and its awareness and attitude toward Seventh-day Adventists. A third survey documents the attitudes and behavior of church members which enhance or inhibit church growth. A narrative describes the planning and administration of a one-year program for caring church ministry in the Eugene, Oregon, Seventh-day Adventist church. During the year's program the number of new members added to the congregation was minimal. In the last chapter, both church growth enhancing and church growth inhibiting characteristics of the Eugene church are identified. Heritage and contemporary goals of members must be respected for a church growth climate to exist. Efforts must include membership in policy decisions."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andrews University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4b1d9df2-25d6-46f6-a889-1871c277d61c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135182198145024,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:47:00.473Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:36:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:43:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3967752e-68eb-4bb7-aee3-17f208c72c15","accessControl_ssim":["eee61597-c950-4f05-b0ae-910437d05b9a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A program for the nurturing of Catholic eucharistic piety among United Methodists through the study of pertinent writings of J and C Wesley"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:36:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:47:48Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9f2629a4-eb26-4f08-b5f1-5c59a9415440"],"hasLease_ssim":["8a9da159-526d-46ab-99f6-131be5d6ddeb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Michael K Kinnamon"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Herbert Eugene Berry"],"publisher_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Piety","Wesley, John, 1703-1791","Wesley, Charles, 1707-1788","Methodists","United Methodist Church","Lord's Supper--Methodist Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The basic problem addressed by the project is the disparity between the present eucharistic piety of the United Methodist Church and the high sacramentalism of John and Charles Wesley. The basic purpose was to aid United Methodists in the appropriation of their catholic heritage through an actual study of the pertinent eucharistic writings of the two Wesleys. The largest part of the dissertation deals with the following eucharistic motifs found in the Wesleyan literature: constant communion, real presence, sacrifice and medicine of immortality. Attention is also given to Wesley's 1784 Sunday Service, Methodism's Anglican roots and the progress of liturgical renewal in the United Methodist Church. The project concludes that an exposure to the writings and sacramental practices of the Wesleys increases the desire for more frequent celebrations of the eucharist."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["795851c5-e081-4353-9c00-2c554dd1d015"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134937157468160,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:43:06.785Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:36:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:47:07Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"aa32e3a2-7b01-4c2a-a14a-7493df2f3c48","accessControl_ssim":["ed31900d-e65e-4d72-9fcc-213e3bf45210"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["God object relations: development in drug and alcohol addicted adolescents"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:36:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:03:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4fab7d35-16ff-49a4-82f8-453dec170b20"],"hasLease_ssim":["011f301a-985c-45cd-98a7-edcfc92a09ab"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Brynolf Lyon"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William J Weber"],"publisher_tesim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Alcohol","Tillich, Paul, 1886-1965","Church work with youth","Parent and child--Religious aspects--Christianity","Alcoholism","Image of God","Drug abuse"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The study investigated the formation of the God concept in drug and alcohol addicted adolescents.
