The program consisted of four children's sermons, four adult sermons, a nine-hour workshop, and four weekly seminars.  The author believed that by presenting sound biblical and psychological principles and personal experiences related to self-esteem, participants would show an improvement in their own level of self-esteem.  It was the writer's hypothesis that by helping the participants change the way they thought about themselves, they would change the way they felt about themselves.  Evaluation instruments included the Personal Orientation Inventory, the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis, and the Tennessee Self Concept Scale. The foci of the project were two mainstream strategy planning sessions which provided for deaf-hearing dialogue and cooperative ministry planning.  The deaf and hearing were tested before and after the two sessions to test any increase in agreement between the two groups of need priorities.  The deaf group's priorities served as a control for the experiment. Statistical analysis indicated no change; however, both the pre- and post-test scores of the participant apprentices resembled very closely those of previously successful church planter apprentices. Analysis of the information generated by questionnaires via telephone interviews indicated the orientation produced positive change, both hypothesized and additional. Of forty-nine participating families, eighteen registered a substantial increase in home worship activity. The researcher designed a curriculum on the canonical approach advocated by Brevard Childs.  Questionnaires tested the clergy and laity before and after the intervention of the approach in preaching. Results indicated that out of 20 questions for the clergy no significant changes took place.  With regard to 10 questions for the laity two showed a significant change. Data gathered from 28 participants by an original questionnaire was analyzed in order to determine: if the group had a positive effect; which of Clebsch and Jaekle's four functions of pastoral care was most in effect; what variables (classifying and Pruyser's seven diagnostic) were most related to positive effect; and what program resources were reported as having the most positive effect.
