This dissertation deals particularly with Wesley's emphasis on the dignity of man, the possibilities of grace, total stewardship, and God's perfect love expressed through man.  This doctrinal background was reflected in the social and political action which characterized John Wesley and the Wesleyan movement of the eighteenth century. The author researched Wesley's sermons, diary, letters and treatises, and read several textbooks on liberation theology, to discover similarities and contrasts. In the twentieth century, soul winning plans grew in number.  How does a person decide to use one outline or another?  this study provides a biblical framework for evaluating soul winning presentations. The study attempts to ascertain if those ordained by the church claim to be in the experience of entire sanctification or if the doctrine is understood.  Each ordinand in the United States and Canada in 1980 was questioned concerning his understanding, experience, and the methodology employed by the Board of Orders and Relations in evaluating qualifications for the role of elder. Questionnaires were also sent to the chairman of the Board of Orders and Relations of each district.  Although results of the questionnaire show strengths in the examination procedures, weaknesses also appear. The report tells of the decision to install a computer, training in its use, the gathering and loading of data, problems encountered, and the contribution which the computer has made to church administration.  The experience is compared with that of 19 other large churches using computers. Fourteen church members followed a daily devotional plan for six weeks.  Tested before, during, and after the six weeks of daily devotions, the participants reported frequency of perceived hindrance to worship and prayer life in devotion to God. A woman enters religious life with an identity, images and styles of communicating closeness or distance that were learned and internalized within the family of origin. These become conscious or unconsious means of identifying herself and her role as a religious and of relating intimately with others in a communal setting. This project is an attempt to create such a program using Jewish tradition and synagogue programs and institutions.  The paper presents the effects and stages of the mourning process and relates them to traditional Jewish mourning ritual.  How the ritual actually aids grief work is then attested to through true life examples in Congregation Rodphey Shalom in Holyoke, Massachusetts. It was based on the writings of Gerkin, McDargh, Crossan, and Malan.  The thrust of the theory was the formation of a context out of which idolatrous myths could be identified, examined, and addressed in the therapeutic relationship to discern the consequences that might exist between those idolatrous myths and the problems in the life of the client.  A case study was the second part of the project.  The problems the client brought to the therapy were reality-tested within the working theory base and traced to their sources in the family of origin.
