The final guide book was prepared through developing an experimental curriculum, testing it in the new member class and evaluating it. The book's format consists of 52 lessons in a one year cycle. Science fiction deals with the impact of technological change; gospels with the impact of theological development. Not equal but parallel genres, each seeks change in the reader's life through changing the perception of the world. Miller's 'A Canticle for Leibowitz', Leguin's 'The Word for World Is Forest', Herbert's 'The Dragon in the Sea', and Dick's 'The Man in the High Castle' are compared with the gospel's narrative function and its impact on the reader's life. After a review of biblical, theological, and psychological literature, the lay board members of six selected churches were surveyed for demographic information, opinions regarding volunteerism, and theological beliefs. The pastors of those six churches were personally interviewed regarding the same items. The study concentrates on finding the basic needs of families by way of a community survey.  The findings of the survey resulted in the development of several possible responses a local church can make in meeting the needs of families. To reach out effectively it was discovered that people within the church needed to be equipped to do the work of ministry. The table of contents are: 1. the situation confronted by the Korean Church; 2. the theology of mission and Korean theological thoughts; 3. a responding mission community; 4. the Presbyterian Church of Korea's mission strategy as shown in survey results; and 5. mission strategy and plans for church renewal.
