Four of these alcoholics in long-term sobriety are interviewed in oral and written sessions. Two of them in short-term sobriety are seen in either short- or long-term counseling. Through the worship experience, sermon, and group discussions, all aspects of these liturgical seasons were covered. Each session included Bible study, class exercises, the use of student journals, and assigned tasks to be accomplished between class sessions. The course introduced the concept of transition moments as life situations requiring decisions, identified examples of those experiences in a midshipman's career, and related the Christian gospel to those moments as a resource for personal and spiritual growth. A student evaluation of the course indicated that the concept of transition moments was understood and applied to personal experiences within the brigade. Further, the evaluation suggested that once having identified transition moments in their daily routines, midshipmen valued the scriptural material as potential resource for information."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127156099645441,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:39:26.190Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:19:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a1d5e80e-5f69-4547-8b73-be099fb6d18e","accessControl_ssim":["2b08d446-52ce-4c03-ad84-79c56c2c3718"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Personality and cognitive theology: a statistical analysis between selected factors"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:51:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["802b8d0b-b3ed-4a94-91ca-bf211bfd7c3e"],"hasLease_ssim":["30810fad-bb64-4cdc-a0a1-65072541a923"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles W Stewart"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. With few exceptions, Baptist theological studies have largely ignored it. The lingering shadows of revivalism have left most Baptists without 'a sense of the liturgical' and with a fear of anything that feels formal. Differences in liturgical practices exist between different groups of Baptists, and distinctions can be made between British Baptists and Baptists in America and between American and Southern Baptists. As early as the eighteenth century there were Baptists who contended against the dangers of subjectivism. Baptists' free church tradition moreover is not without a liturgical and theological perspective necessary for the development of 'a sense of the liturgical.' the work of P. T. Forsyth, for instance, demonstrates what can be done with worship in the free church tradition. The best hope for liturgical renewal lies in a historical-theological perspective. Rethinking understanding of worship is best done in a laboratory setting, i.e., in planning and evaluating services of worship."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717067012702208,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:12:23.608Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:17:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"340f4727-dd94-4b66-98e8-cf004fa09ded","accessControl_ssim":["18265d57-5834-4dcb-b024-428ebafde7de"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The role of spiritual values in the recovery of alcoholics"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:38:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1925fb65-9d99-465f-b8e3-bac956de0bd2"],"hasLease_ssim":["878bc734-68ef-44f6-9403-cfcc77f43a02"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Tibor Chikes"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The disease is examined in the context of a theological anthropology based on process theology. The alcoholic responds to the call to wholeness in the radical, healing relationship of prayer. The project explores 1) the role of spiritual values in the recovery of alcoholics in a 28-day residential treatment program, and 2) the comparative length of sobriety reported after three months. The results are: 1) the experimental group showed increases in spiritual consciousness and practice; 2) the control group showed no significant level of difference in spiritual practice at t2 or t3 point although this group showed significant change in spiritual consciousness at both points when compared with t1; 3) the experimental group reported a longer length of sobriety. The implications of the study include: the need for spiritual ministry for alcoholics in recovery; the value of treating the person as a whole; the minister has a role on the health care team as a fellow professional."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717410656223232,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:17:51.331Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:47:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"79a975da-249a-46a8-b559-805b3ce6ac50","accessControl_ssim":["c3eb7369-9a1e-4302-b7a0-301d91c42e40"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The use of drama as a means of presenting the sermon during Christmas and Easter"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:57:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:42:41Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f0adeb37-f369-48d9-a255-41478ce8d0f6"],"hasLease_ssim":["670e542b-ad64-4091-97ba-b41f00e03f80"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Diedra Kriewald"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The number and rate of resignations and a review of the literature provide context. Analysis of the interview data reveals consensus regarding the seminary's failure to encourage personal maturity, an overall positive experience of priesthood and problems with the institutional church in areas of authority and celibacy. The researcher speculates that the conflict between the respondents' idealized image of church and their lived experience weakened their commitment to a celibate priesthood.
