The goals of this project are: 1) to systematize some practical, life-related biblical principles that have shaped the scriptural understanding of present church members; 2) to develop a means of introducing new members to these principles; 3) to facilitate the orientation of new members to the biblical concepts that have influenced the church family; 4) to help new members identify areas of personal need and find initial solutions, visualizing the church as a resource for growth and development; 5) to provide small group learning experiences, giving opportunity for bonding, security, and friendship.  The validation of the project is supported by both theology and survey resources. The paper includes ten attributes which the writer considers essential for effective ministry.  Senior ministers should take into account their strengths and weaknesses regarding these attributes in order to establish priorities in a realistic and practical manner. Some of the results included a greater awareness that all Christians are ministers; an increased understanding of and involvement in ministry. The purpose was to introduce the literature about prayer, to facilitate discussion about prayer, and to nurture individual spiritual growth.  This paper includes a discussion of prayer in life, a survey of literature, description and evaluation of the two groups, theological reflections, and includes outlines of the sessions, a prayer worksheet, and an evaluation form for spiritual growth groups.
