Christians have turned to their churches and pastors to cope with the feelings of loneliness, fear, and frustration.  The pastor cannot meet all the needs of these people by himself.  To help church members fulfill their Christian ministry a training program was developed covering the following resources: 1) needs of recent immigrant Koreans; 2) principles of pastoral care; 3) skills of pastoral care.  At the conclusion, lay-shepherds had taken responsibility for one another with skills and perspectives of pastoral care and expressed growth in personality and spirituality. A 'systems approach', using consensus decision making and value enhancement techniques, improves a project group's 'up-thinking', self-esteem and willingness to improve the environment. This project introduces the pastor in Monroe County, New York, to the Therapeutic Alternatives for Sexually Abused Children and Their Families (TASA) program.  TASA deals with incest, intrafamily sexual abuse through the court system and with therapeutic alternatives. The dynamics of an incestuous family are explored as well as ways in which the pastor may become an intervenor in an incestuous family.  The project concludes that incest occurs in greater frequency than most individuals are aware. The pastor is a potentially powerful source in intervention and in ministering to the families. One method rarely used by Protestants is the study of biographies of spiritual masters with the express purpose of teaching the lessons of spiritual development. Six spiritual masters, Augustine, Teresa of Avila, Martin Luther, Jonathan Edwards, Harry Emerson Fosdick, and Georgia Harkness, were presented to a study group at the United States Naval Academy. The method of study for the thesis was the psychosocial, historical, and doctrinal comparison of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Unification Church, and Protestant evangelicals. Present practice is not consistent with historical Christianity nor with Wesleyan Methodism.  To be actively involved in the healing of the broken body of Christ this part of their heritage must be understood and reclaimed. Meeting with a reflection group, representative of the congregation, Methodist eucharistic heritage, ecumenical and liturgical renewal, and local customs were studied. The church year provided the vehicle through which themes of the eucharist were celebrated.  Taped interviews with the congregation following each service helped assess progress.
