A total of 180 surveys were completed by evangelical chaplains (working chaplains, professors, CPE supervisors, and denominational directors).  Out of 180 participants, 136 completed all aspects of the survey.  The survey focused on practical theology or what chaplains believe and do.  Therefore, the results accurately portray the practice of evangelical chaplains working in the field of chaplaincy. This doctrine is placed at the heart of revitalization and considered in response to manifestations of sin in postmodernism, narcissism, materialism and consumerism. One of the most pernicious challenges of listening to sermons is distraction due to smartphone addiction. The purpose of this study is to examine how adult congregants of a local church engage in sermons amid distractions. The study employed qualitative research methods with fourteen adult congregants using semi-structured interviews analyzed with the constant comparative method. The research explored neurological, psychological and spiritual issues induced by digital technology. The research focused on how pastors describe systemic health, what pastors believe to be hindrances to systemic health, and how pastors cultivate systemic health within their congregations. The literature reviewed included biblical and theological material relating to a congregation's systemic nature and the definition of congregational gospel health; change theory; systems theory; and the leader's role. The researcher interviewed two senior pastors of two different churches, their spouses, staff, and lay leaders. Both senior leaders articulated four factors that the literature supported: personal and marital growth; thinking systemically about the congregation; a working knowledge of change theory; and having at least one co-laborer in the work of change. It seeks to answer this question through a simple, exegetical inquiry into the meaning of pistis in Romans 3-4 and Galatians 2-3. Pistis is examined because its meaning is the heart of the debate. By looking at Paul's use of pistis in the surrounding context ofsix of the seven occurrences of pistis Christou, this project expands the evidence for a proper translation.
