The first step in the process if equipping selected members with these skills was to research the topics of prayer and evangelism as well as the relationship between them. From this research, the project director identified essential evengelistic prayer skills and developed a seminar curriculum to teach these skills. He explored strategy development and evangelism. The long-range planning committee developed the evangelistic strategy through a series of development sessions. This thesis offers resources for preparation and ongoing formation in the preaching life. The author reviews the literature on difficult scripture texts and proposes interpretive methods for depth analysis. She explores how reflective practices support interpretation by bringing together theological reflection with the adult pedagogical theory known as Transformative Learning to focus on the preacher's frame of reference. She proposes a model of reflection in sermon preparation and investigates its effectiveness in a collaborative study. Through two-one hour long interactive workshops, clergy and lay addressed the problem that people no longer view the church as a place of hope, but rather hurt. Surveys were distributed preceding the initial workshop, and at the conclusion of the final workshop. The Korean Presbyterian Church of Westchester's (KPCOW) EM and KM can stay together when they view themselves as a covenantal community founded by Christ based on its baptismal identity rather than its ethnic one. The author evaluated the influence of a sermon series on the way KPCOW understands its identity by analyzing two questionnaires both quantitatively and qualitatively.
