The project director performed careful research through interviews, the use of resources online, and other avenues to discover the existing resources and programs related to the crisis of foster care and adoptable children in Arkansas and Garland County, Arkansas. This project involved both research and ministry in following a skills-enhancement model. Research focused on the purpose, preparation, and delivery of strategic sermons. From the research, ten common components of strategic sermons were identified and utilized in the formulation of a strategic sermon study guide and strategic sermon template. To conclude the project, the project director preached the series of strategic sermons employing the strategic sermon study guide and sermon template; thereby, representing an increase in his knowledge and skills in strategic preaching. The author used a seven point Likert scale to survey members and friends of EFC. Noteworthy data revealed by experiencing inclusion, hope, with open and affirming encouragement to seek Jesus, the people of EFC reported an increase in their self-image, spiritual maturity and relationship with Christ. The method used in this study was grounded theory. The results show that chaplains go through a transformation and become new people. The changes that occur are categorized by five marks. These marks include: increased humility, improved pastoral identity, recognizing their finiteness, valuing their contributions, and finding strengths in weakness.
