While individuals are eager to lead, the church lacks a clear succession plan or a distinctive process for mentoring and coaching pastors to lead at the various administrative levels of the denomination. Research shows that effective use of rhetoric and communication empowers leaders to become more effective in casting vision and leading people to take the next step. The research seeks to: 1. Explore the biblical basis of the single-parent family, 2. Understand the needs and issues of the single-parent family, 3. Explore the influence of the redeeming grace of Christ to the single-parent family, 4. Provide care workers with practical goals and methods when working with the single-parent family, and 5. Manifest the love of Jesus through church-caring ministry to comfort the single-parent family and strengthen their hope and trust in Christ. Using the approaches found in theology and scripture on caring for single-parent families, this qualitative study examines four categories of single-parent individuals: widowed, divorced, unmarried mothers, and pseudo-singles. A quantitative survey to the congregation identified the preferred and most-used communication channels, and qualitative focus group conversations culled the positive and negative experiences of different communication channels. The survey and conversations could be replicated in other congregations to obtain information about preferred and most used channels of communication in context. The mentoring sessions was designed to bring hope, healing and wholeness to women of diverse ages, and backgrounds. The hypothesis was that mentoring would shift participants from brokenness to wholeness. The project was implemented through collaboration with women abiding at women's shelter, and the Executives Director. Participants engaged in six-weeks of mentoring. The research methods used to test the hypothesis and evaluate results were measured utilizing qualitative analysis. From the Great Commission of Matt. 28:18-20 disciples are mandated to teach relational Christian education. Historically church leadership has been negligent in understanding this mandate. As derived from the Great Commandment in Matt. 22:35-40, Christian education is to teach obedience based on relations more than regulations. These relations originate from the Godhead's trinitarian relationships. This project develoepd a faith-based strategy to equip ministers with knowledge of crisis ministry and how it will affect them.  The training offers information and skill sbaout caring for themsleves and others in crisis.   During the immediate crisis response, the State Board of Missions provided intervention specialists to come alongside the ministers for support.  When the effects of the stress seem to be hampering the minster's  overall well-being the intervention specialist refers to mental health professionals for more definitive care.  Followiong th eimmediate crisis minstry, the State Board of Missions offered pastoral care services and a retreat for the purpose of renewal and recovery in a group setting. Based on this research, the author designed a set of practical questioning methods tailored for Christian devotion, small-group Bible studies, Biblical teaching and preaching, as well as evangelizing and pastoral counseling.
