This research project explored the nature and meaning of doing and being through biblical and literature research and utilized a grounded theory field study to examine the critical factors related to the doing to being boundary and transition. This study utilized a qualitative design using interviews with elders of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.  The literature review focused on four aspects of pastoral care: strategies used by Sessions, personal involvement of elders, elements affecting elders' individual engagement, and assessment by elders of the pastoral care. This project synthesized and developed strategies that can be used to help them integrate into the American culture. Worshipping at Kenyan Community Church has brought Kenyans to fellowship together. Using qualitative research methods and a semi-structured protocol to interview six founding pastors, this study explored how pastors negotiate these leadership challenges. Four research questions guided the research: (1) What leadership challenges do Presbyterian pastors face? (2) How do pastors experience challenges? Other areas focused on their loyalty to bosses, the importance of a company's values and social practices, and their preferences about working independently of collaboratively.     Members of an American college ministry were surveys using an online survey tool. Based on 261 surveys, 85 percent chose servant leadership as their preferred style. The role is commonly referred to as pastor, shepherd or teacher.  Ordained ministry often comes at the cost of emotional and physical turmoil in the life of a pastor.  This can result in ordained ministers questioning their abilities, their own personal success and even their call into ordained ministry.  In this project seven ministers are interviewed.  They reflect on their decisions to leave or remain in the role as an ordained minister.
