However, members remember being 'the church' in the aftermath of the April 1974 tornado when they served their community face to face. In this project, the author explored if meeting a mission recipient face to face, hearing their story, and photographing them would enable members to see the image of God in someone who is very different from them. They have been molded by forces within contemporary culture. On the basis of research, a training course was written by the author aimed at Christians mature in the faith. It sought to identify and articulate cultural forces. Biblical training, fostering understanding, and preparing mature believers as mentors would motivate, raise, and sharpen the ability to ground new believers in the faith. The study is based on qualitative research that included in-depth interviews with nine ministers in the Washington, DC area. It is supported by literature reviews related to transformational learning theory, a biblical case study from the life of Simon Peter, and findings from research that relate to pastoral ministry. Analysis revealed areas in which the ministers' understanding coincided with this theory. It also revealed gaps in their knowledge. This project considers how Sportvereine ('sport clubs') offer a promising gospel outreach ministry through community partnership and social networking. Could this gap be bridged? Survey findings revealed common obstacles; however, Kid's Games, Sola and Elebniscamp Kirche und Sport represented three separate models that met with a modicum of success closing the 'sacred-secular' gap. This was accomplished operating from a values-based platform. Schools experiencing either loss of heads and/or residual dissonance can be assuaged using emotional intelligence and its competencies. By contrast, this thesis, based on the experience of 'real world' evangelization and on the premise that true Christian mission methods and outcomes are ultimately 'spiritually discerned,' examines the influence of a missions strategy consisting not of 'scientifically' determined mission 'methods,' but the integration of five simple, New Testament-based 'core values' which manifest in the attitudes, experiences and tangible results of Iris Global's ministry, primarily in Mozambique, Africa. The study utilizes action research to explore variables that impact the probability for healing. Many people experienced healings from surgically implanted materials with pain reduced or movement restored by 80 percent or more, much higher than from traditional therapies. The research method for this project was a program evaluation, which assessed the effectiveness of expository preaching from the Book of Haggai in hopes of stimulating the spiritual growth of young believers at Dong-do Presbyterian Church in Seoul in the areas of comprehension, convictions, and conduct.
