The hybrid course design model was approved by Biblical Seminary's faculty in 2011 to meet the needs of the alternate format programs. The purpose of this applied research project was to assess the hybrid course design model in order to make recommendations for improving the model. The study included five courses taught by three instructors in the alternative format programs. The four key elements of the hybrid course design model were evaluated: 1) online and classroom activities, 2) interactivity, 3) teaching presence, and 4) administrative transparency. The results of the study were used to make recommendations for modifying the hybrid course design model, expanding faculty training in the use of the model's syllabus template, and improving the seminary's hybridization strategy for the alternative format programs. This study suggests that the hybrid course design model provides a sound foundation for effectively delivering courses in the alternative format programs."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129547516674049,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:17:26.823Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:21:10Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4fbed8c1-1bd4-4497-9c7e-17dcd5f51b14","accessControl_ssim":["d5e2c542-ff8e-44a5-b1b7-ea2a0d4af529"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A congregation study informed by practical theology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:35:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:28:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6eed24c4-04c2-43c0-a0b4-4969fc643412"],"hasLease_ssim":["6263b043-18ab-4f27-ab6e-7a855a9be8a5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Michael R Turner"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert E Kennedy"],"keyword_tesim":["Congregations--Internal conflict"],"publisher_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Conflict management","Social groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project depicts how practical theology was used in the context of St. Peter's AME Church to discern congregational dynamics contributing to segmentation in the congregation. The project methodology consists of modified case studies. A history of betrothal practices lays the groundwork for the study. Then seven cases are presented. The first case is based on the writings of Martin Luther as he spoke to the culture of his day regarding marriage. The second case comes from the historic records of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Cumberland, Maryland in its registering of cohilationen - cohabiters. Five cases come from the ministry of the author in the early twenty-first century. A public rite of betrothal is suggested as a way to strengthen engagement and provide a place for promises of faithfulness as a couple moves toward becoming married. A sample rite is offered that might take place during the Sunday morning worship service."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714664042463232,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:34:11.957Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:34:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:22:20Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"82892197-2176-4e4b-b0a0-2cd8baf6d30d","accessControl_ssim":["4c3ce809-f52b-44ae-824a-206d47d43e5c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development, implementation, and assessment of a nutrition curriculum unit for grades 9-12 in Seventh-day Adventist Schools in Ontario"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:34:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:58:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["45d5e363-d74f-4745-b16a-454c5efd17a4"],"hasLease_ssim":["0b1ac867-314d-4b66-b90c-a7ee922a008f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Tyndale University"],"advisor_tesim":["J Kevin Livingston"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"location_tesim":["Canada"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Maria G McClean"],"publisher_tesim":["Tyndale University College and Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Children--Nutrition","Seventh-Day Adventists","Christian education","Seventh-Day Adventists--Education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Nutrition instruction is integral to balanced education. In Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario, instruction in nutrition has been inconsistent historically. To start addressing this inconsistency, this project pursued the development, implementation, and assessment of a nutrition curriculum unit for grades 9 to 12 in Seventh-day Adventist schools in Ontario. It was developed and tested at Crawford Adventist Academy. The curriculum objectives were that students would understand the contribution of nutrition to optimal health, identify and access trustworthy nutrition resources, link nutrition principles to personal Christian stewardship, and honour God by making consistent, healthy nutrition choices that would result in behavioural change."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Tyndale University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["602e7e7c-0b8b-4e09-af87-84c66ff49c48"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133633904377856,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:22:23.906Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:34:31Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:01:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0f9cedba-cb57-4db1-beb9-03c05acecfb8","accessControl_ssim":["422e2464-b962-4123-a152-ab36c3b45486"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Restoring vision to the people of a declining church: a project in ministry at Mount View Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Virginia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:34:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:34:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1951cbe0-8561-4bf9-b741-83c3b6415a52"],"hasLease_ssim":["51dda5ce-4ce4-47f3-95ba-ac884dd8f379"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Campbell University Divinity School"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Michael Cogdill"],"publisher_tesim":["Campbell University Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Commitment to the church","Pastoral theology","Church growth","Church membership","Mount View Baptist Church (Charlottesville, Va)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project in ministry focused on reversing the numerical and spiritual decline of Mount View Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Virginia.
