As a result the congregation's ministries have not been aligned with any explicit overarching vision. Ministries were sometimes not sure how their particular activities aligned with the larger purposes of the church. A process was needed to bring the congregation's leadership together to start thinking strategically and plan the future ministries of the church around a shared vision. A strategic planning team led the process by conducting congregational surveys, meeting regularly to pray, studying survey results and writing new mission and vision statements. The outcomes of this project include new mission and vision statements, a willingness to align the ministries accordingly, and a more forward looking, visionary leadership. This project will use case study methodology to assess the following: Is humor appropriate in worship? Can humor in worship serve as a spiritual resource to promote healing after a community has suffered loss? The project proposes a biblically-informed functional definition of sinful gossip. An appendix contains a written form of the ministry model-the complete manuscript of a practical theology book that both elaborates on the proposed definition and explains the biblical teaching on a popular level. The ministry model was analyzed by a group of twenty-one critical readers. Open-ended interviews were conducted with five people with diverse grief experiences from the Protestant Evangelical, specifically Baptist, faith tradition. The results of the study found that most people depended on family and close friends as their primary source of support.  Some felt supported by their church, but most felt church members were uncomfortable with discussions about their grief. Purposeful, criterion sampling provided females pastors who had or did not have mentors during seminary-to-church transition and women who mentored female pastors during the mentees' transitional periods. Data collection involved face-to-face interviews. Findings indicated that women pastors encountered ministry adaptation, competency, and fulfillment problems during seminary-to-church transition. Drawing from the U.S.C.C.B. document Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, the author has created a program of spiritual formation for parish lay volunteers. (1) A consistent, vertically-integrated ministry that recognizes the 'in Christ' relationship as sons/daughters of God and purposefully structures the church to foster that relationship in order to see life change (Christ-likeness). (2) The horizontal mutuality that exists between fellow believers in Christ and how that relationship fosters spiritual growth.
