Smithfield Baptist Church located in Gloucester, Virginia served as the context for this project. The researcher hypothesized that the freedom of worship and the availability of relevant ministry opportunities would provoke an attitudinal change in the current parishioner, as well as increase church participation and growth. A mixed methodological approach was used to measure the project's effectiveness including focus groups, pre and post survey questionnaires, workshop questionnaires, and workshop evaluations. This work takes Bereavement as an example of how that ethic could be used in a congregational setting to increase the community response to loss to a member or family in that community context. This study began with a survey of biblical and professional literature that examined the divine paradigm for marriage, the stressors associated with ministry, and critical steps couples took to create a more amicable, enduring relationship. Next, the project gleaned information from a survey distributed to couples who have been married for at least thirty years and have served in the pastorate. The project director compiled, synthesized, and reported the results. The conclusions drawn affirm that God's marital construct can and will endure the stressors of ministry when couples apply biblical principles. This report is intended to bring encouragement to pastoral couples who are fighting the good fight. The thesis was, God impacts and transforms Samaritan volunteers through face to face encounters with the migrant, 'Jesus.' The research included interviewing eight participants who gave 'testimonios' that documented evidence of transformation. The evidence parallels Mark's Gospel where Jesus called people to follow his 'Way' that ultimately transformed all areas of a person's life. The author employed a phenomenological method of research to discuss the caring interactions between the preacher and the bereaved. It examined the human phenomenon of grief and loss and emphasized the intentionality of the funeral sermon and pastoral care to deal with the phenomenon of the death of a loved one. Those who participated affirmed the importance of preaching in the churches studied. Areas of special consideration include the place of rhetorical principles in preaching, and the use of traditional evangelical invitations at the end of sermons. The study examines Christ's place in preaching persuasively, and the need for preparation for listening to sermons on the part of the laity. Zion Baptist Church, Ontario, California by using core values. I contend that one-on-on discipleship is the choice method for core values transference and that it produces optimal long-term results when it utilizes multiple intelligence, brain learning, and emotional intelligence theories. The use of this method produces leaders who motivate others to reach their full potential and strengthens the long-term stability of organizations. Fifteen participants completed training, and thirteen engaged in one-on-one discipleship as agreed. The spark from this project has potential to make II Timothy 2:2 a reality throughout Mt. The author implemented three strategies in this project: first, initiating and developing an individualized coaching relationship; second, training three ministers to lead their leadership teams through a values-discovering; third, consulting with the ministers to use a values-based decision-making guide to evaluate future plans. To prepare for the project the author researched appropriate literature and developed training material to guide the project implementation.
