The research proves Whitefield's doctrinal preaching content was a primary factor for why God used him so mightily in the Great Awakening era and beyond contrary to common misinterpretations for his success. A six-week preaching series presented the six principles to our church and included evaluative surveys analyzed in this project. This project tested the process of intentionally utilizing spiritual practices such as prayer, scripture reading, journaling and group reflection as a part of short term mission trips to strengthen spiritual growth among participants. Participatory Action Research was the primary research method employed for the development of a reflection guide and follow-up interviews with volunteers in mission. Research explored servant leadership, distance leadership, and cross-cultural leadership. Field interviews with more than 80 global leaders suggested that effective global leaders (a) employ servant leadership by humbly serving and developing others into mature, autonomous leaders, (b) overcome relational distance and build trust using advanced communications technology, and (c) grow in self-awareness of cultural bias. The story of the day shelter and the women who established and ran it was told to members of Univted Methodist Women. The praxis director posited that an understanding of the DiSC Model of Human Behavior will increase a preacher's ability to effectively communicate a sermon. The project included a weekend retreat, the implementation of a lay ministry preaching team, a four-week sermon series, and a test group evaluation.
