One way for churches to help in Christian identity formation is through the practice of testimony, when members share their faith stories to encourage and nurture one another. This report briefly explores Christian identity formation in the twenty-first century along with the understanding of testimony in the Bible and church history. Then it details how one congregation has begun the practice of testimony, with members sharing faith stories in worship. The author used an evolving narrative to illustrate the benefits and challenges of co-pastoring in the local church. As an initial effort to examine co-pastoring as a leadership model at First United Methodist Church, Hershey, identified clearly is the understanding that without humility, respect, and trust a co-pastoring appointment will not succeed. The author created and tested four sessions of an arts and theology resource with an older adult ministry in a local church. The sessions centered on art, poetry, games, and drama and concluded with evaluative surveys from participants. Additionally, three participants completed an arts interview and the Daily Spiritual Experiences Scale. Ten husbands of female pastors in the House of God Church were identified to define their role as the 'first gentleman.' The methodology was approached from a pastoral counselor's perspective. Strategies of brief counseling theory (Stone, 2001) were used to develop survey and interview questions for the participants. This study examines the approach taken by RHCCC. Strategic planning was employed. A Caring Ministry Handbook was developed to promote clarification and collaboration in ministry strategy, alignment and operation. An action research was adopted using two pilot programs, integrating pastoral care and discipleship, to address people's bio-psycho-socio-spiritual well-being. This project proposes that this is a detrimental shift away from the church's mission of discipleship. The project seeks to investigate a healthy understanding of membership and explore how the church might faithfully engage new members of the church in a discipleship model of church life. The research was conducted with a participatory action research process by a group of representative members and non-members in a particular church.
