The purpose of this project was twofold. My first goal was to enhance my textdriven preaching skills using a christiconic hermeneutic. My second goal was to explore the results of the christiconic hermeneutic on the evangelistic awareness of selected church members at Central Baptist Church, Marion, Ohio. I used the Preaching Skills Enhancement Model contained within the DMin Handbook of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The project consisted of the following three parts. First, I researched the fields of christiconic interpretation and text-driven preaching. Second, I wrote a series of four sermons incorporating christiconic interpretation as the hermeneutic and text-driven preaching as the homiletic. I then preached these sermons at Central Baptist Church, Marion, Ohio. Finally, I distributed an evangelistic assessment as a pre- and posttest to selected congregants to measure their evangelistic awareness.
