  • This dissertation-project develops and provides critera for the evaluation of interpersonal communication courses suitable for use in the adult education program of a parish. Five guidelines comprise the primary criteria. They are: 1. does the course provide helpful tools for meta-communication; 2. does the course provide opportunity for interaction, lead to engagement, and allow for transformation; 3. does the course enable and encourage hope; 4. is the course synergistic; and 5. does the course provide for the building of trust sufficient to meet the level of threat to be experienced by participants.
