- Congregations face constant change and transition in many forms. Rural churches encounter particular dynamics as change and rapid transitional forces occur. This research/action/reflection model examines one rural parish in-depth, and three other churches in moderate detail, as they move to address their transitional circumstances and position themselves for future ministry via a deliberate planning process. Three theses with regard to future planning summarize the author's findings: the role of the pastor; authority and power for planning; and membership consensus of mission and future vision. A full bibliography, appendix and primary documentation are listed.
