Abstrakt

This project involved the development and evaluation of a mentoring manual for senior pastors in the Progressive National Baptist Convention (PNBC) Midwest Region to use to guide staff ministers. This manual provided instructions on spiritual formation emphasizing its value in sustaining ministers and their respective ministries. Thirteen senior pastors and staff ministers from the PNBC and other African American churches evaluated the manual and judged it to be necessary, useful and biblically sound. These pastors and ministers also commented that this manual could be an important tool for building mentoring relationships that could result in long, fruitful ministerial service.
