Abstract
  • Present and prospective biotechnologies require local churches to educate congregants in bioethics. The author dicusses the need for, lays a theological and biblical basis of, and outlines a practical methodology for the implementation of such education. He stresses worldview, particularly as a metanarrative that forms a moral community, as the theological framework for congregational engagement in moral discourse, deliberation, discernment and decision. He developed, utilized and evaluted two primary pedagogies; a 13-week elective followed by a focused group discussion and a four-part sermon series with two congregational surveys preceding and following the series; all of which are included in appendices.
